The company was established in 1989 based on the Deed of Establishment No. 1, dated March 1, 1989, and the revision Deed No. 14, dated November 21, 1989, both was made in presence of Hobropoerwanto, S.H., a notary domiciled in Jakarta. The Deed of Establishment was legalized by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Indonesia under decree No. C2-546.HT.01.01.th.90 dated February 3, 1990, registered in South Jakarta Court No. 192, on February 21, 1990, published in the State Gazette No. 86, on October 26, 1990, Supplement No. 4424.

The Company’s Articles of Association has been amended entirely in compliance with the Corporate Law No. 40 Year 2007 based on the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) No. 141, dated June 24, 2008, in front of Dr. Misahardi Wilamarta, S.H, M.H., M.Kn., LLM, a notary domiciled in Jakarta. The Deed was approved by Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia under decree No. AHU-90666.AH.01.02.Th 2008 dated November 27, 2008, published in the State Gazette No. 17, dated February 25, 2010, Supplement No. 1960. (Deed No. 141/2008”).

The Company was established under the name of PT Bumi Citra Surya and pioneered a township development in Surabaya in 1989. In 1993, the first and biggest project of the Company, CitraLand Surabaya was launched and continues to develop until now. Following the success of CitraLand Surabaya, Company's top management is more confident to develop its business to other areas which have high potential in real estate industry. Started from Surabaya, the Company Projects now can be found in major cities such as Sidoarjo, Bandar Lampung, Pandaan, Semarang, Kendari, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Palu, Medan and the newest, Makassar.

The Company doesn't focus only in development of housing, the Company also developed the superblock project in Surabaya, known as Ciputra World Surabaya. This project was launched in 2007, developed through 5 phases consisting of The Via and The Vue and Voila apartments, SkyLoft and VieLoft SOHO, Ciputra World Mall, Ciputra World Hotel and Ciputra World Office. In 3rd quarter of 2015, the Company successfuly launched the first reclamation project of Ciputra Group, The Centrepoint of Indonesia with the area of 157 hectares which 50 hectares will be given to Provincial Government of South Sulawesi and the remaining 107 hectares are developed as CitraLand City Losari Makassar.
